The situation was especially tense in the central city of Jos, where explosions on Friday evening left at least eight people dead. The region has been previously hit by sectarian unrest that has killed hundreds this year.
JOS, Nigeria, Dec. 25 (Xinhua) -- At least 20 people had been killed as of Saturday morning after three blasts rocked Nigeria's restive Jos city on Christmas eve, a source with local hospital told Xinhua.
The source, who declined to be named, told Xinhua over phone from Jos, capital of the central north Plateau State, that he counted more than 20 dead bodies at the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) on Saturday morning.
There is an uneasy calm in the state after multiple bombs hit some parts of Jos as local Christians were celebrating Christmas.
