This time the subject of an American documentary photographer Steve McCurry was Green-Eyed "Afgan Girl" who put a human face on a brutal conflict.
Pathan Girl name Gula her image 1st published in june edition of National Geographic Magazine in 1985 & after that she known as "Afgan Girl" throughtout the world. She was formally identified in early 2002.
Steve McCurry was in Afghanistan 1984. He came to a refugee camp near Peshawar at that time. He approached the girl, she was young 12 year old school girl & took her picture.
Her identification remained unknown for over 17 years but he had tried to find her throughout the 90s McCurry told CNN.
It was like a miracle finding her or to help her after 9/11 tragedy in United States Of America.
Now it remains one of the highlights of the Philadelphia-born photographer Steve McCurry's career.
