According to the CNN news report Hijacker was former police officer Rolando Mendoza. His demand was to get his position in police force back.
He was in his police uniform & carrying a rifle with him. A tour guide for Hong Thai Travel tried to stop him from boarding the bus. Rolando Mendoza, died of a gunshot wound to the head, and at least two hostages were killed, police said.
